The plot tells the story of the creation of the legendary novel "The Catcher in the Rye." Jerome D. Salinger is a young writer who firmly believes that fiction is much more interesting and authentic than reality. He writes short stories for one of the newspapers and has long been nurturing an idea for a whole novel.
