The plot of the film tells the story of the American physician Desmond Doss. He was brought up by a cruel but equitable father, who at one time went through the First World War. It was thanks to this man that Desmond became a real Christian, observing all the commandments of the Lord. During the Second World War, Desmond voluntarily joined the army as a medic, wishing to save lives, and not take them. He flatly refused to take up arms, which led to constant jeers of brother-soldiers and even a military tribunal. However, Doss was not convicted and received permission from the military leadership to go to the front.
