A very remarkable movie based on the real biography of a man - Carl Brashear. He tells what it was like to be a negro in the United States in the middle of the 20th century. It would seem that the country fought for the liberation of blacks and equality of all races. And no, not so simple, until the late 60's black Americans were completely blocked access to many public institutions. Especially vividly the events are shown on the example of a black guy dreaming of becoming a military diver.
A couple of lines about the plot of the movie. Carl Brashear is an African-American. His lifelong dream is to get into the navy, but not a simple sailor, but a military diver. At that time, blacks mostly served as cooks in the Navy. Miraculously, the guy gets into a special school for divers. But getting in is half the battle. On Carl's way becomes his instructor Billy Sunday, a famous former lifeguard...
