Criminal Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) has earned recognition as one of the best in Los Angeles and maybe in the entire United States. Working with Neil is considered an honor by the pros of the criminal world, and his own motto is not to get attached to anyone. His life is a constant game with fate. At one point, police officer Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino), who also won the title of the best of the best, comes on the trail of Neil. It seems that the warring parties have more in common than differences, but they stand on opposite sides of the law and are forced to engage in a deadly battle for honor and freedom.
