Astronomical scientists Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) discover that a giant meteorite is coming to Earth, which will arrive in six months and destroy all life. Unwilling to do nothing, the main characters embark on a press tour to warn mankind of the impending danger. But powerful people are more interested in the mineralogical composition of the meteorite than the preservation of the planet. Then the heroes decide to notify the civilian population with the help of the media, but the news anchors turn their message into a funny prank. Scientists are actively uploading posts to social networks, hoping that people will understand the seriousness of the situation.
