Malcolm Sayer is a very shy and humble medical researcher. The current circumstances force Sayer to go to work in a real hospital and treat living patients. He now has a dozen patients at his disposal. True, all patients have been in a semi-comatose state for many years. The indefatigable doctor searches for the cause of the disease and discovers an experimental drug called L-Dopa that may help many patients. To conduct the experiment, Sayer selects one of the patients - this is Leonard Lowe, who has been in a coma for 30 years. The experimental drug is miraculous and all patients began to wake up after many years. They are happy and enjoy life, even though so many years have already been lost. But the irreparable happens... and this does not stop the doctor, he continues his research...
